We sit on the lawn in the evening having a date of our own. Upstairs he sleeps. We talk as dusk fades into grey blackness and the stars begin to show themselves through curtained clouds. Parenthood, we'd been told, was a lot of work. But what neither of us expected--is how much fun it would be. To watch this baby grow, coo, experience life...it ties us to the house in ways not expected, but home is where we are together. In the quiet we watch the oil well going in across the dirt road, and dream big dreams. My heart is full.
